When the guys at Loopmasters asked me to review their
Psychedelic Trance and Goa sampling CD, I said yeah
no problems, send it through. I was totally amazed
within a few days it was on my doorstep. Loopmasters
are in Brighton, UK and I'm in Perth, Australia. The
delivery was second to none. Faster than the local
mail here in Australia.
A couple of days after the CD had arrived, Loopmasters
where asking me what did I think of it. These guys
were keen for me to listen to it. So I did and I am
glad they hounded me to listen to as this sample CD
is awesome. This release has 2 CD's. Disk one is an
audio CD and Disk two is a data CD containing exactly
the same track listing as CD one. With the Audio CD
I used it for auditioning the samples, after all,
why extract the audio from a audio CD when there is
a data CD.
The Data CD is absolutely mind blowing, 91 folders
contain wave and midi files. Everything from drum
loops, bass, synth through to one shots. ready for
you next big dance hit.
Folders one through to six have a demo of all the
loops in each folder mixed together. It also has each
individual loop. As they are in data format you can
drop them straight into your project. You will even
find an midi file of the same loop so if you want
to create a fresh loop using a synth module or adjust
the drum pattern you can easily do so. The CD book
sleeve also has a detailed listing of all loops and
samples, including the key of the loop/sample, the
BPM and the file name. So referencing the loop/sample
is very easy.
Folders seven through twenty nine contain mainly
drum loops. The loops are available once again in
either midi format or wave format. The bonus with
this CD is the drum loops have the one shots that
are used in the loops in the same folder. This means
you can create a variation of the loop or create a
snare drum roll or even a completely new drum loop.
If this is not enough and you want more drum samples
folders thirty through to thirty seven contain one
shots of various drum machine. These include TR909,
TR808 just to name a few.
Bass lines and synths can be found in folders thirty
eight through to forty six, both in wave and midi
formats, with the remaining folders containing various
one shots of different instruments in various keys.
All in all this sampling CD is of very high quality,
it's usability is not only for Psychedelic Trance
and Goa but other styles of trance. The accompanying
booklet is very handy and the samples/loops are of
the highest quality. The midi files can be easily
customized to suit your next big song or remixi giving
this CD a long life.
The retail price of the CD is £39.95. This
represents excellent value as there is over 800 files
