Looking for some hot, dirty analogue drums samples
and loops??? Well, I have to tell you that YOU CANNOT
GO PAST THE DROPS IN THE BRONX sample DVD. It is hot,
dirty and full of analogue drums.
Some of things I always look for in my samples is:
- Quality
- Original Sounding
- Little or No FX
- File Format
- Value For Money
DRUM IN THE BRONX does not disappoint me in any of
the categories.
The main feeling behind the samples are break beat,
hip hop, nu-soul and in particular old school. The
folks at Drumdrops have used legendary drummer, songwriter
and producer Jan Kineaid for The Brand New Heavies
fame to create this fantastic DVD.
This DVD has the highest quality drum loops and one
shots that are available on the market. The sound
is totally original with any effects that are used
actually enhancing the sound and are also noted in
the file name. The file names are easy to figure out
with a naming convention like: 113-FX-01 indicating
that the BPM is 113 and that FX has been applied and
the sample number. In this case there is also corresponding
files that have dry. 117HATS-01 indicates that it
is a Hi hat loop.
The loops and one shots are set out in a very easy
to follow file system that includes the format of
either RX2, Wav or One Shots and have subdirectories
consisting of the BPM of the samples and instruments
used.
Featuring over 900 wav loops including drum, conga,
bongo, hats, ride and percussion. The RX2 folder has
the identical loops in the same arrangement. There
is over 300 one shots that are easy to use and can
be used in a number of genres to create your own interesting
drum patterns. (In fact I am using them in a trance
song I am working on). One thing I did notice about the loops is that they are not perfectly trimmed for looping. This is not a bad thing as they can be easily trimmed in Cool Edit Pro (Or what ever program you use for trimming samples). It also gives the last loop that natural feel when using the untrimmed version. The one shots can be used in either Reason, Fruitloops
or your favorite loop creating program with endless
variations possible and no artifacts present when
stretching them.
All in all you can't go past the Drops in the Bronx Sample DVD, record on a 1970's Neve and Api console with an array of vintage microphones, analog tape and Ludwig and Gretch kits. This DVD is hot and dirty and is a must for your sample collection. Retailing for $110 US, it worth every cent of the price. Grab your copy now from Drumdrops.
